Initially mistakenly declared dead by TP Mazembe, the former pocket-sized striker of the Crows has ultimately pulled through. After being placed in a medically-induced coma at the University Teaching Hospital of Lusaka (UTH) and then regaining consciousness, the "Maestro" has finally left the hospital to continue his care at home.

This was announced by the hospital through Ms. Nzeba Chanda, the public relations officer for the medical facility. "Today marks exactly 14 days since his admission," she stated.

From his hospital bed, the 2012 African Cup of Nations winner with Zambia had received a visit from his former club president, Moïse Katumbi. The latter, who described Kalaba's recovery as a miracle, thanked the Lord for his recuperation.

"I came to see the player Kalaba, who is like a son to me. First and foremost, I would like to thank the Lord, because it’s a miracle. I came to Lusaka before going to Egypt for the CAF Champions League return match [against Al Ahly]. For now, I can say that he is 99% saved," he told the press after his visit to Kalaba.

The chairman of TP Mazembe also expressed his gratitude to the medical staff and the country of Zambia.

"In addition to the Lord, I sincerely want to thank the medical staff and the Zambian government because if it had been somewhere else, we might have already lost him," he added.

In the course of his visit, Moïse Katumbi also dropped a revelation that Rainford Kalaba had just joined the technical staff of Tout Puissant Mazembe.
