Kenya Airways announced on Monday, April 29, 2024, the suspension of its flights to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to a statement released on Monday, April 29.

The statement emphasizes: "The ongoing detention of our employees has made it difficult to oversee our operations in Kinshasa, which include customer service, ground handling, cargo activities and, in general, ensure the safety and efficiency of our operations."

In this statement, Kenya Airways protests against the "ongoing detention" of its two employees by the Military Detection of Anti-Homeland Activities (DEMIAP).

The company "is not able to continue its flights effectively without staff," and is therefore forced to make "the difficult decision to suspend flights to Kinshasa as of April 30, 2024, until we can effectively resume these flights," as detailed in the statement.

This Kenyan firm says it is willing to cooperate with investigative agencies and relevant government entities in the DRC and Kenya to ensure the resolution of this matter, without mentioning the reasons for the arrest of its agents.
